Where to Eat in Grande Prairie, Alberta: Ruby’s Treats & Charcuterie

Post by Lauren

A beautifully arranged charcuterie board featuring a variety of meats like salami, alongside fresh fruits such as strawberries, grapes, and orange slices, as well as assorted cheeses and vegetables including carrots and celery, all presented in a decorated basket.

From house-made spreads to locally sourced ingredients, Ruby’s Treats & Charcuterie is a cozy corner where modern comfort meets old-fashioned care

If you’re anything like me, this restaurant spoke to my foodie love language of both charcuterie and always being on the lookout for the perfect little local soup and sandwich spot. If this is you too, let me introduce you to Ruby’s Treats and Charcuterie. With all of their jellies, spreads, and dips freshly made in-house, plus a commitment to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, it’s the kind of place that wins your heart with the first bite.

You might be wondering, “So, who is Ruby?”
The name Ruby’s pays homage to the Rubuliak (Ruby for short) and Skladan families, who founded the business right here in Grande Prairie in 2020. And maybe that’s exactly why they’ve managed to capture that warm, familiar, family feeling the moment you step through the door.

One of their kind and welcoming staff is always ready with a smile, eager to share the daily soup feature or recommend their personal favourite from the menu (though honestly, I’m not sure I could pick just one myself).

Located in the heart of downtown Grande Prairie, Ruby’s is perfectly placed, whether you’re popping in for a quick snack, grabbing lunch before browsing the local shops along 100th, or (if you’re like me) squeezing in a healthy bite between errands because you packed lunch for everyone except yourself. (Moms, where you at?!)

Not only do I love getting to support local, but wow, their “Epic Ham & Swiss Sandwich”? Chef’s kiss, folks. As a Grande Prairie local, supporting small businesses is incredibly important to me, it’s how we keep these wonderful little gems around for years to come. Ruby’s takes great pride in locally sourcing ingredients whenever possible. It’s not just about the food; it’s a celebration of local food culture and a true community connection!

One of the best things about Ruby’s is their unwavering commitment to accommodating every guest, no matter their dietary restrictions, allergies, or intolerances. Coming from a family who has had to adapt their recipes to severe allergies over the years, they’ve developed an incredible knack for food inclusivity. The best part? They never sacrifice quality or taste. Whether you have a gluten intolerance or a dairy sensitivity, you can rest assured that your meal will be just as delicious as it is safe.

Lastly, let’s not forget about the charcuterie: wow, wow, wow. For any occasion, Ruby’s can create the perfect spread, no matter the size. Got a board you want them to work with? Bring it in, and they’ll craft a beautiful, Instagram-worthy spread just for you. No board? No problem! Ruby’s local connections can help you find the perfect one, or if you’re looking for a less permanent option, they’ve got that covered too.

If you’re in the mood for a hands-on experience, you can even book an evening with Ruby’s, where they’ll teach you all their artistic tips and tricks for creating a show-stopping charcuterie board to impress your friends and family. I was lucky enough to participate in a “build your own board” event over Christmas at a girlfriend’s house, and it was an absolute blast! It was the perfect way to have a little party, get everyone involved in a fun activity, and learn a valuable skill (yes, I believe charcuterie is a skill worth having!).

Whether you’re a seasoned local or just passing through, don’t skip out on Ruby’s Treats and Charcuterie. Whether you’re in the mood for a wrap or panini, or maybe you’re feeling like a fresh salad, I promise there’s something for everyone! Ruby’s offers a cozy, community-driven experience you won’t want to miss. So grab your favorite foodie, stop in, and make sure you try their homemade classic almond toffee, trust me, you’ll have serious regrets if you don’t. It’s a must-have every. single. visit.
